Barolo Riserva Monfortino 2010 - Giacomo Conterno
Price: $265.00
Available: 4 bottles
Description:
The legendary Monfortino Riserva is only produced in exceptional vintages and represents the absolute zenith of traditional Barolo. Made from the Francia vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, this wine sees extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks, creating a monument to Piedmontese winemaking. Deep garnet with orange rim. The nose is profoundly complex: rose petals, tar, dried cherry, leather, tobacco, menthol, liquorice and forest floor create an intoxicating symphony. With time in the glass, notes of truffle, cinnamon and dried herbs emerge. On the palate, it's monumental yet graceful, with firm but refined tannins supporting intense flavors of red cherry, plum, earth and spice. The acidity is razor-sharp, providing extraordinary freshness and balance. The finish extends seemingly forever. The 2010 vintage is drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve and improve for 30-50 years. A collector's treasure and investment-grade wine. Pair with white truffles, aged beef, game or simply contemplate it on its own.
